Intranet Now – the UK’s first intranet (un)conference

Here at Intranetizen we’ve long wondered why the UK doesn’t have its own fully-fledged intranet conference. It seems we weren’t alone – but now two intranet practitioners have taken matters into their own hands and organised the UK’s first independent intranet conference, Intranet Now.

Recognising the need for an event, not tied to a specific vendor or technology, but relevant to a wide range of digital comms and intranet pros, Wedge Black and Brian Lamb have pulled together a varied and exciting agenda for the 2 September event.

The morning will be focussed on intranet and digital internal comms best practice, with speakers from across the public, private and voluntary sectors (including two of your Intranetizen team).

As any good comms pro knows, in this day and age communications needs to do more than talk at people, but facilitate conversation. So in the afternoon, the conference becomes an unconference, where the agenda will be dictated by participants themselves, on open space principles. This will allow for group discussions where attendees can share war stories and learn from others.

Despite being held in central London, the organisers have kept costs low; tickets are just £120, making it affordable for both in-house practitioners and sole traders. We challenge you to find a similar conference at that price.

Talking about the event, Wedge commented “The intranet is not one channel, but dozens of different digital channels that reach different audiences around the organisation. Comms professionals have to reach audiences with diverse needs, and the intranet is an established yet every-developing communication, collaboration, and engagement platform.”

The conference is about the role of the intranet in the digital workplace and will be about the intranet now, not about future technologies. There will be space and time to learn from each other, to discuss what works well and what doesn’t.”

“I want Intranet Now to become the most talked-about, and hands-on, annual event for everyone involved with the intranet.”

The 80 early bird tickets were snapped up in just two weeks, but regular tickets are still available. With only approximately 50 tickets left you really need to act quick!
