Privacy and Cookies

Privacy

We take your privacy seriously and are grateful that you entrust us with some personal information. There are a few ways in which your information is used on this site.

We use a WordPress system called JetPack, which provides us and you with a number of services. When you comment on this website, your details are used to post your message including your name, email address and website. We can only publish what you supply; in choosing to publish, you are giving your permission to use these details. You can at any stage delete your comments, or ask us to do so.

JetPack also provides us and you with a subscription service. In opting into our subscription service, you are choosing to give us your email address. Please note that we will NEVER pass these to third parties and will only ever use them for this intranetizen subscription service.

Cookies

When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. Where services are delivered on the internet, this sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device, for example, computer or mobile phone. These include small files known as cookies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we put on your computer. They cannot be used to identify you personally.

The cookies we use allow us to distinguish you from other users of our website, which helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and also allows us to improve our services to you.  For example:

  • The cookies enable a service to recognise your device so you don’t have to give the same information several times during one task.
  • The cookies allow us to recognise that you may already have given a username and password so you don’t need to do it for every web page requested.
  • The cookies measure how many people are using services, so they can be made easier to use and there’s enough capacity to ensure they are fast.

You can manage these small files yourself and learn more about them through “Internet browser cookies – what they are and how to manage them”

We use some session cookies, cookies for analytics and cookies to record your use of our polls. These are essential to the smooth running of our site. By taking part in our polls, you are opting in to our placing a cookie for this purpose.

You  can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of our site.

To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites visit http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
